MONOBLOCK PUMPS/ SELF-PRIMING PUMPS
The word “mono” means single. As the name suggests, in monoblock pumps the rotor of the motor and the impeller of the pump are mounted on a common shaft, unlike the traditional pumps where these components have individual shafts and are coupled with a coupling. And because of this, there is no loss of energy during transmission from motor to shaft in monoblock pumps.
Further, the noise and vibration of a monoblock pump is less due to its dynamic balanced rotating parts. It is also easy to install and maintain these pumps, and the wearing parts can be replaced easily. The sturdy design of these pumps make them capable of enduring three phase voltage fluctuations.
Monoblock pumps are installed near a reservoir or well. The most common type of monoblock pump is the centrifugal monoblock pump. It is used for diverse purposes including domestic water supply, public and industrial water supply, booster application, firefighting, ornamental fountains, drip/sprinkler and lift irrigation, etc.
